- I was really hoping we’d get some kind of nod to Halloween in this episode, but alas there was none. When you think about it, it’s kind of already Haloween for them 24/7, so I am not sure what they’d dress up as . . . each other? Instead we get a Hook and Henry episode! I am so excited . . . yeah not really . . .
The A Story- Hook & Henry Have An Adventure
- This week’s untold story was 20,000 Leagues under the sea, starring Hook. Apparently long ago, Nemo randomly appeared on the Jolly Roger and when he pushed Hook overboard to his submarine, the Nautilus.
Hook had never seen a monster like this before! I suffered through this episode as well . . . "I exist to move this show along," - The Evil Queen They're bonding . . . Now they're bonding . . .
The B Story- General Hospital, starring the Charmings
- The episode began with the daring rescue of Archie, now a grasshopper from last week. Regina distracts the Evil Queen and Zelena while Snow and Charming break Archie free, but then baby Robyn cries and the Charmings are distracted. Zelena realizes what’s up, as does the Evil Queen, but Regina purple smokes herself and the Charmings away just in time.
They're fierce! (Well, Regina is . . .) Charming was thrilled . . . The waiting room has one more person than the library . . . "I don't work here, but these flowers are more interesting than you, Belle," -Snow
The C Story- And All of the Rest
- So, yes, the Evil Queen, who was just used to move the plot along, appeared in Gold’s Pawn Show to tell him, she wants him and one other thing: Snow’s heart. She also presents him with shears that Henry and Hook had tossed away because she knows that’s what he wanted. Elsewhere, Emma helped convinced Aladdin that even though he has no powers, he can still help Jasmine. Jasmine breaks the news that Agrabah is missing. Yes, the city is missing!
*****Extra Tidbits*****
- Grasshopper Archie was freed, but is he still a grasshopper?
- I loved Lana Parrilla’s southern belle accent during her scenes with Gold, even though I am in no way, no how shipping them because that’s gross.
Gold wonders how her hair is so big? - How awkward is that Liam and Nemo are sharing a hospital room? I’m pretty sure health care must be cheap if not free in Storybrook because who’s going to tell anyone that is on good terms with Regina no?
- I am surprised Belle did not get an eyeful of Gold’s gross moment with the Evil Queen. Would she have even cared?
- Next week Storybrook is in danger from some kind of potion, it looks like it could be hilariously good!
Dark Waters
Didn't hate this episode. Didn't love it. Small doses of Jasmine and Aladdin was nice, but creepy Evil Queen and Rumple kissing scene stuck the fork in this episode for me. Literally, though, because I'm pretty sure it was the last scene.
Hook and Henry. Did I miss something? I thought they were OK together. Until this episode I was under the impression that Henry liked Hook. I don't know, but he definitely had some issues with Hook in Dark Waters. Especially when Hook threw his pop tarts away.
I thought they were going to give Henry some credit and have him suspect Hook of having kept the magic savior cutting shears instead of hiding them (in a garden tool box? C'mon Hook) as he said he did. But no, Evil Queen had to practically throw the little garden tool box at him. But now Henry knows! Yay! I was worried they were gonna drag out that little lie for far too long. Anyway, now that Henry knows, he decides to go find a row boat and attempt to drop the shears to the bottom of the ocean himself. Hook finds him and the Nautilus conveniently shows up at the docks at this time.
Turns out Hook's baby half brother, Liam, is looking for him to kill him since Hook killed his, actually their, father. The two are captured and taken to the ship. It's really just an opportunity for Hook and Henry to go through their thing. Henry has to have his moment where he's really angsty and indifferent towards his potential stepfather. Hook has to have his moment of selflessness with Henry. This episode was dedicated to convincing us of the quality of Henry and Hook's relationship and the formal initiation of a new Charming. By the end Henry has officially accepted Hook as a member of his family. All that's left is a wardrobe change. He'll have to ditch the leather if he is ever to be a Charming.
There. That's better.
Elsewhere in Storybrook, Jasmine was being a princess and Aladdin was being a thief. He ran away AGAIN when Jasmine asked him to help her with Agrabah. I feel like Jasmine should get the hint by now that Aladdin is really uninterested in helping her. Kudos to her though for being so persistent, I'm sure it will work out for her in the end.
You get a happy ending, and you get a happy ending, and everyone gets a happy ending |
Happy endings for all on this show.
There wasn't too much else going on in this episode. Regina did confront Zelena about harboring the evil queen, and the Charmings did save Archie from the fugitive farm house. Belle was there for a little while, venting to Snow about Rumple problems. And then Evil Queen and Rumple kiss at the end. It's too creepy to discuss. I don't like it.
That's all for now, folks. See you next week for Heartless.
