Welcome back and we here at Windowless Reviews hope you had a happy Thanksgiving! Last week we had no Riverdale, but this week, the show more than made up for it!
- This week, we were treated to three stories that all tied together to the Black Hood mystery, but these stories were more like Urban Legends and I loved every minute of them!
- We open with a found footage style exposition to set up for the night.
- Our first story:
- Stop me if you heard this urban legend before, about the two teenage boys who must transport “pancake mix” in order to help one of their father’s out of bind, but break down on the way and are helped out by a creepy truck driver, who may or may not a be killer too. We that’s what happened to Juggy Kool-Aid colored hair Archie.
- It all started when the serpent lawyer/queen (as I like to refer to as) calls Juggy to do a favor.
- J/K we still love you, Taylor. It was this woman:
- As mentioned above, while transporting this box of “pancake mix’, Archie, who barely knew how to drive, and Juggy get a flat and have no spare. Enter creepy truck driver.
- Juggy rides with him on the bases that he can’t look under the driver’s tarp. They stop for gas and a bite to eat, but the driver, who previously took Juggy’s $18.00, wanted to dine and dash, but luckily our favorite faux Ginger showed up to save the day.
- I wish! But instead it was this one:
- They make the delivery to wheelchair bound Russian(?) woman who informs Juggy that he will be her new regular delivery boy.
- Archie and Juggy lament at the diner before Juggy finds out that the Serpent Queen tricked him because FP is fine, but she hold a grudge because he promised her something that he delivered on!
- The next urban legend chapter focused on Josie! Like just Josie! Cheryl was there but this was all Josie, the girl who stayed after school writing music because she plans to ditch her band and go solo! There’s a reformed creepy boy hitting on her and an even creepier janitor who likes her a little too much!
- So, we see the janitor allow Josie to stay after closing time but after he leaves, Josie hears strange footsteps, so she rushes home.
- Mayor McCoy is not happy with Josie’s late hours because she has began receiving death threats (most likely from angry Southside Serpents).
- We also learn Josie has a secret admirer who has been leaving gifts in her locker.
- When reformed Chuck begins hitting on her, Josie and Cheryl are both quick to dismiss and insult him.
- But then Josie spends some time with him and discovers Chuck is really trying to change, but too bad Mayor McCoy, with Sheriff Taylor in tow catches them doing the twist and drags her away.
- The next day, Josie receives a threatening picture . . .
- Spearheaded by Cheryl, they blame Chuck and the creepy janitor jumps in to whisk the “bad” guy away from Josie.
- Josie has way too real nightmare about being killed by the Black Hood and seemingly loses her voice.
- Cut to the last scene of Cheryl drawing another picture of Josie, this time with her! Because Cheryl is her secret admirer and knows how to eliminate her competition!
- Finally the last story!
- B thinks Sheriff Keller is having an extramarital affair and V thinks because of the recent murder that, the Sheriff Keller is the Black Hood! They both investigate and B is right!
- The oh Snap! Ending moment is when they follow him in the middle of the night and discover that he is having an affair with Mayor McCoy!!!
- The show ended with all of groups in Pop’s! The Black Hood called and said Riverdale failed his test, so the reaping will begin!
*****Extra Tidbits*****
- I liked Josie’s story best and am really surprise it wasn’t entitled Josie and Cheryl, but Josie needed a solo outing with a main character as her sidekick!
- The Pussycats are broken up and I don’t mind this if they get actual time for the story to play out and lead to the group getting back together.
- B’s jump to Sheriff Keller is the Black Hood is a little big even for me and Kevin is suppose to be her best friend . . . Sheriff Keller may be the only cop we see but there are so many others she couldn’t have ruled out on her own.
- For group of close knit friends, they barely or just didn’t even acknowledge each other’s in Pop’s when it was supposed to be uber early morning!
That’s all for this week! I really enjoyed this format! I wouldn’t mind seeing it return in the latter half of the season, but focusing on other characters or adult characters. Imagine Alice having her own chapter! Until then, stay #Riverdale Strong!
