Riverdale 2.6 Death Proof

  • Our #Bughead is broken, B&V are on the outs, and the Black Hood continues to be a hovering, unseen threat! This week, Riverdale tackled it’s latest issue, the sugar candy, Pixie Sticks, the drug Jingle Jangle!
  • Alice called a meeting of our main group and and their parents, to tattle to them, all of their kids, but her perfect angel Betty, broke into the candy jar and had some Pixie Sticks Jingle Jangle at the hotel party.
  • When confronted over the drug, the group blamed the Southside (which isn’t exactly lie)
  • So, Sheriff Keller and Mayor McCoy raided Southside high, leading to several arrests.

  • For some reason, Archie felt he had to go try to save Juggy from being arrested, but since he had nothing on him, what would he have been arrested for?

  • B received her next assignment from the Black Hood, who reveled in the fact that she gave him a name of someone else to kill. This week, she must find out who the Sugar Man is. The Sugar Man is the actual drug supplier of the Pixie Sticks Jingle Jangle.
    • I mean come on, it’s even in the name . . . The Sugar Man . . .Pixie Sticks . . . I think we know the real issue is- the Riverdale parents don’t want their kids to rot their teeth out. Duh!
  • This lead B to Cheryl, because Clifford Blossom was the old candy man, so surely she would know who the new candy man was. Cheryl thought B was speaking about a mythical boogeyman and just wanted to work on her tan . . .in the fog . . .
  • Cheryl also had another storyline tonight, and that was the fallout of Nick slipping her a roofie. Penelope (mama Blossom) believes since nothing actually happened to Cheryl, all is well and is more than happy to take some hush money from Nick’s parents so they can continue to do business with the Lodges.
  • V puts a stop to that when she told Hiram and Hermione that she stopped Nick from trying the same thing on her. At the end of the episode, we learn the Lodges are not taking the investment from Nick's parents and they had pretty bad car accident where Nich was hurt, but would recover . . . in like six months or so. V reacted like I’m sure many of us did.
  • As B searches for the candy man, she decides to open up to V and tell her everything. Yay! B&V are back together!.
  • Cheryl confronts her mother over The Sugar Man and the hush money and finds out the truth. Also, Penelope took a page from one of Usher's greatest hits and burns the hush money check.

  • In the midst of all of this, Juggy tries to prevent a Ghoulie and Serpent union and the only way they know how, a Drag Race, endorsed by FP, where the winner takes all!
  • And that race also gave us this great moment!
  • Archie ruined the race, having set the Ghoulies up to be captured by the Police, which I guess means Juggy and the Serpents win . . .

  • Finally, the Black Hood calls B back to get the identity of the Sugar Man, but B stands up to him and having been . . . 10 steps ahead . . . already published the information, called the police and had the Sugar Man, aka Juggy’s teacher arrested.
  • Too bad in the end this didn’t stop the Black Hood from getting into the jail and shooting drug supplier anyways!

*****Extra Tidbits******
  • Toni spend the night at Juggy’s but don’t worry, nothing major than making happened and she likes girls more anyway.
  • Josie had no time for anyone and was super mad to be the only pussycat tattled on for taking Pixie Sticks Jingle Jangle.
  • So B is mechanic???
  • Anyone else think a future storyline for Fred is going to be his pill popping habits? Is this foreshadowing?
  • And #Bughead is back on!

So, there’s no Riverdale next week, the week of the Day of the Turkey, which means no review from us. We shall return when the show does, so we will see you in 2 weeks! Stay #RiverdaleStrong

What season is it? Cheryl is sunbathing, but Jug his wearing fleece lined coat.

I am seriously confused about the weather.

But Beronica is back on and that makes me happy! It’s about damn time Betty told Veronica about her phone calls with The Hood, mainly because Veronica’s response to Betty’s “toxic relationship” with Riverdale’s serial killer is what Betty needed to hear. Veronica is right, it is a toxic relationship, and Betty was losing control.

The Sugar Man (SM I will refer to him) is the next target for the Hood since SM is the Jingle Jangle supplier in the town. The Hood demands that Betty find out the identity of this person and report back to him so that he can deliver justice. Betty thinks that if she finds out who this person is, then the Hood will leave her alone, so Betty and Veronica spend much of this episode attempting to discover who SM is. Cheryl Blossom will be the key to this discovery.

All season long we have seen the youths of Riverdale take very serious matters into their own very inexperienced hands. This episode was no exception.

Sometimes I wonder why he has a job

When the mayor found out that Josie had tried some Jingle Jangle, she made it her top priority to take down The Serpents. The northside is under the wrong impression that the Serpents are the ones dealing those pixie sticks to Riverdale youths, but the real evil goes by another name.

The Ghoulies are a gang of serious criminals and they have somehow managed to fly under the radar while the Serpents take all the heat from the judgemental northside of Riverdale. The Serpent students at Southside are victims just like the students from Northside, but I don’t think the north sees it that way.

Archie does, but Archie has very little control over what goes on, so he does what he can. Archie knows a raid of Jughead’s new school is about to happen so he pulls Jug out of the building before he can be taken in by the cops. He also helps Jug think of a way to get the Ghoulies out of Southside High, and who better to help solve this problem than FP Jones.

FP points out that this is essentially a territory dispute. He suggests a street race to determine who gets control of Southside High. Jughead offers the challenge, but the Ghoulie wants more, so he demands control of Sunnyside Trailer Park and the Whyte Wyrm, the Serpent’s bar, as well. Jughead accepts.

So all that’s left to do is race.

Archie rode shotgun with Jughead, but Archie never intended on their car reaching the finish line. Jug didn’t know it, but Archie called the cops and they were waiting on the other side of the one lane bridge that the racers had to cross. Archie pulled the brakes on the car he shared with Jughead, and the Ghoulies got caught.

Part of me is really happy that these kids are finally starting to call the cops so that the cops can do their jobs, but I also get why Jug is mad at Archie. Jughead is definitely going to have to deal with the aftermath of this whole situation when those two Ghoulies get out of jail, and Archie will too. They are going to come for them, and then what will they do? I feel like the theme of this year is all of our main characters getting in over their heads.

Speaking of, Betty might really be. She answered one too many phone calls from the Hood. He is no longer her puppet master, though, and Betty refused to tell him who the SM is, but she did publish his identity in the school paper the following day.

Not gonna lie, when I first started this episode I kept thinking this guy was the Hood. I was so sure of it until I saw the gun pointing at his face from the other side of his jail cell. The most recent victim of the Hood is this teacher guy, whose name I cannot remember. I wonder how Betty will respond to this? If she will feel like his blood is on her hands? And how will she handle the Hood now that she has threatened to come after him?

Dun dun dun!

See you next week!
