Riverdale 2.5 When A Stranger Calls

  • This week’s episode took inspiration from the classic Horror movie by the same, as Betty dealt with the creeptastic Black Hood and everyone else in Riverdale dealt with the equally creeptastic Nick, a friend from Veronica’s past.
  • In the Southside, Juggy went full Serpent this week!
  • We pick up where we left off last week, our main girl B talking with the Black Hood. He knows where Polly is and threatens to kill her (Because of the sin she carries) unless B does what he says.
  • She is also supposed to tell no one or Polly gets it.
  • B’s first assignment from the Black Hood is to publish an old article, showing that Alice use to be Serpent and totally has a record! At first, she is hesitant, but then when Alice continues to blast the Southside, B doesn’t need any more convincing.
  • This made Hal mad.
  • B is next instructed to cut ties with Veronica, or Polly gets it. Reluctantly, she does and it’s pretty harsh, but we then learn B would recognize the Black Hood if she saw him.
  • B is instructed that she now must break up with Juggy, something she can’t bare to do, so instead gets Archie to do it for her.
  • Having been pushed to the brink, B wants to meet the Black Hood in person, so he instructs her where to go AND she goes!
  • B is instructed to put on the mask and look into the mirror because the Black Hood and she are one in the same (if this doesn’t scream long lost brother, I don’t know what else does)!
  • She runs away upon hearing footsteps, even though I thought she wanted to see who it was, which is the whole reason why she went there in the first place . . .
  • FInally, the Black Hood addresses the whole she told Archie about the calls thing . . . as punishment, Polly will die unless B gives him a name of a different sinner. She doesn’t want to, but luckily, Slimey Nick was in town, so she gave him his name!
  • The next story was V playing hostess to old chum Nick, and his parents so they will invest in Lodge Industries.
  • It’s very clear that he wants V, but she has no interest in him.
  • Nick decides to throw a hotel party, inviting the gang, including Cheryl who invited herself in only the way she can, along with Josie and the Pussycats.
  • While at the party, everyone (but B) decides to try resident Drug Jingle Jangle, courtesy of Reggie. (I can’t tell what Jingle Jangle is suppose to be other than a suped up Pixie Stick, but whatever).

  • The Pixie Sticks Jingle Jangle makes everyone high.
  • Nick comes onto V and gets slapped for it.
  • At the Lodge open house open house Nick apologizes to V, but Cheryl shows up as his date and he drugs her!
  • Josie and the Pussycats + V perform a cover of Out tonight from one of personal favorite musicals, RENT! Josie & The Pussycats + V Out Tonight Cover
  • During the song, the drug takes affect on Cheryl, but thank God V noticed and followed the douche to his hotel where the they proceed to kick his butt and save Cheryl! Phew!
  • Finally this week, Juggy went full Serpent! In order to so, he had to complete few tests:
    • 1. Take care of HotDog III
    • 2. Memorize the Serpent Laws
    • 3. Retrieve a knife from rattlesnake
    • J/K- Love her!
    • 4. Manage to still stand after every serpent gets a free hit on him

  • Juggy is full serpent and when he tells Toni B broke up with him, she kisses him . . . and he kisses her back
  • Long live #BugHead

*****Extra Tidbits*****
  • Alice embraced her inner Serpent and I love it! This is part of the reason why I enjoy her so (most of the time).
  • I feel like someone needs to tell the Black Hood that Polly had no idea she was in a relationship with her cousin and if anyone is to blame, it’s Mama Blossom and Hal.

That’s all from me this week, Stay RiverdaleStrong!

Hi guys! Syd here, and ready to discuss the most recent episode of Riverdale! And here it goes...

Oh Toni,

Well, it isn't really her fault. That damn Black Hood! He has killed our precious Bughead and Beronica in one episode, and what a sad episode it was. Ships are sinking, tension is high, and dreadful people are coming to town.

A really douchey teenager, Nick, came to town this week with his parents. His parents are chummy with the Lodges, and Veronica, trying to win her seat at the Lodge table, has to court this little twit while they are staying in Riverdale.

Nick does drugs. Nick tries to get everyone around him to do drugs. Nick tried to rape Cheryl. Nick is bad. Archie knows how bad.

I don't think his expression towards Nikki changes the entire time. It takes Veronica a little longer to realize how disgusting Nick really is, but she gets there. It takes his date rape attempt on Cheryl to completely come to terms with it, but once she does Veronica and all of Josie's pussycats beat that sucker up. It was a beautiful thing.

Sadly for Nick, he might get murdered next week.

Betty has been accepting phone calls from the Black Hood. By the way, that ringtone...

Ridiculously adorable, yeah?! Yeah.

Anyway, Betty has been talking way too much to the Black Hood. He managed to manipulate her into dumping both Veronica and Jughead, and now she has to give him the name of a sinner in the place of Polly, or else he will go and murder Polly. I wouldn't miss Polly, but Nick is really terrible so Betty gave the Black Hood Nick's name and location. Ooooooo Betty, you bad.

The only person Betty has been able to talk to this whole time is Archie, which is cool because they are supposed to be best friends but we don't get to see them interact a whole lot, so I was really pleased to see them working together. When she was told to cut Juggy from her life, Betty asked Archie to break it off for her. If that isn't friendship, then I don't know what is.

I think Archie is still a little sour from the brawl last week between the Bulldogs and the Serpents, so when he gets to Jug's place to let him down easy, but the Serpents show up just after, he kind of loses it. All of his hate for the Southside comes out and he tells Jughead that Betty never wants to see him again and that she has been wanting to leave him for weeks.

It's devastating for both sides. Oh God, I don't know if I can handle it. This little outburst motivates Jughead to go full serpent, and not just so he can keep the peace between the north and south like he originally intended. He needs somewhere to belong now. He needs people that will support him and Archie's rant made him feel isolated from his Northside friends. I think Betty is the only one who can fix this now, so I'm gonna need the Hood to stop torturing her so this can happen. I need the gang (not the Serpents) back together. Beronica? Bughead? Where are you?

Ships aside, there was one moment during this episode, about thirty seconds long, that stole the show.

Looking at you, Alice! Shameless and proud!

Before cutting loved ones from her life, Betty was pressured into publishing a mugshot of Alice as a Serpent from her younger days in the local paper. Betty wasn't really eager to do it at first, but once her mom accused her of writing those black hood letters, she sent that mugshot to the press. All of Riverdale saw it the next day. So Alice showing up at this fancy black tie event in her revealing getup and snake necklace was kind of a big deal. I think Alice has been taking notes from a certain Blossom, because this was definitely a Cheryl entrance.

Welp, on Alice's high note, I leave you. See you next week!
